Kia ora koutou,
Welcome back to term 4 - one of the busiest terms in our school year. It is great to see your tamariki pouring through the gates with lots of energy and enthusiasm. The next nine weeks will be jam packed with activities, so this is a Nuts and Bolts newsletter to provide you with some key information. Please get your diaries out and record the following important dates.
Week 1
Whole school Tsunami Evacuation- Thursday 20th October.
The whole school will make their way to the top of the zigzag and will be seated in class rows to practice what happens in the event of a Tsunami warning.
Please pick up your child between 2.30 pm and 2.45pm at the top of the zig zag on Athens/Otaki Street intersection.
Parents collect your child from this location. If you are not available, you must organise your emergency contact to pick up your child. Children will be sitting
with their classes. Please follow the steps below.
- Report to one of the Marshall’s at the exit points on Athens Street or Otaki Street. A Marshall will collect your child and deliver them to you.
- Return to school to collect your child’s bag/scooter/bike. Bags will be outside the classrooms.
For the safety of our students we ask that you do not park your car at the top of Athens Street but walk up the zig zag or Otaki Street. Let the children go up first.

Preparation for 2023.
We will be reviewing classes for 2023 over the next few weeks. Circumstances can change and we welcome your communication about any changes that might be happening for you and your family that will result in your child not attending Holy Cross School next year.
You may also know of families or children who may be planning on attending Holy Cross School for 2023. If this is the case, please encourage these families to get in touch as this will help us in our planning and classroom set up.
We do take a lot of care about your child’s placement. Notices regarding what class your child will be in will come with the end of year written report due out on Friday 2nd December. If you have any questions about this please see your child’s teacher as a first port of call.
No parking on the court at 3pm.
Due to health and safety concerns around student safety, there will be no parking on the courts for term 4. With the warmer weather, we would love to see more students walking, biking or scootering to and from school. If you need to pick up your child in the car, please park safely on Miramar Avenue and walk in to collect your child.
