Kia ora koutou,
We have been blessed with amazing autumn weather over these holidays- I hope you have all managed to get out and enjoy time with your whanau. We are looking forward to having all our active tamariki back at school with a few changes awaiting us as we return.
ORANGE TRAFFIC LIGHT SETTING.
We will continue to-
- Wear masks inside for Year 4 upwards and for all staff. Tamariki travelling on buses for swimming and technology must also wear a mask from Year 4 upwards. Please make sure your tamariki come to school with a mask.
- Practice good hygiene habits, maintain clean surfaces and monitor and ventilate classrooms.
- Encourage both tamariki and teachers to stay home if not well. Please keep tamariki home if a household member has Covid. Please contact the office if your tamariki is sick, has COVID or if a family member has COVID. The isolation period for someone with COVID or for household contacts is 7 days.
Changes we have made-
- No bubbles for staff or students. Tamariki can play anywhere on the playground, staff are welcome to use the staffroom for breaks etc.
- Whole school and larger gatherings can take place- assemblies, powhiri, staff meetings and other occasions can take place in well ventilated spaces indoors and outdoors.
- School is open to students from 8.30am. School finishes at 3pm for all.
- Parents are invited to enter the gates for pick up and drop off times if required. We would ask parents not to linger but to exit the school grounds quickly. Parents are required to wear a mask on school grounds.
- In order to maintain a level of safety, we ask parents to wait outside the classrooms. Teachers will make themselves available outside the classroom, if required and If not on duty, from 8.30-8.45am and 3-3.15pm
- Singing and exercise can happen in well ventilated spaces. Mask do not have to be worn when these activities are going ahead.
- Part of our risk assessment has indicated that our tamariki and staff have contact with immunocompromised whanau or friends, therefore we will continue to ask new or relieving staff their vaccination status until the Board of Trustees decides this is no longer a threat to people's safety in our community. In line with changes to the mandate, we will not be keeping a vaccination register.
If there is a surge of cases in our school community and there is significant risk to the health of our community, the BOT will review our settings and can reinstate the following-
- Syndicate and staff bubbles for playtime and lunchtime.
- Parents outside the gate with staggered pickups.
- No singing or exercise inside.
- No face to face meetings inside for the wider school community and for staff.
