When I sent my first message to you all ten days ago I ended my communiction saying,
He Waka e Ke Noa- We Are All in This Together....
the last ten days have certainly shown this to be true for our community. We, as a staff have been so impressed with the way our tamariki have got underway with learning from home - and appreciative of the amazing support and encouragement you have all provided. So many different forms of learning have been shared and celebrated. Many of you have been able to support your children's participation their daily wellbeing and celebration check-ins; these are great fun. We're getting to meet favourite toys, as well as pet dogs, cats and even turtles!
Earlier in the week two of our classes got to meet Nakita - a beautiful new baby sister for Vianna and Allexia- born during lockdown, congratulations Tagi and Allan and girls from your Holy Cross family.
Thank you Staff: I would again, like to acknowledge our amazing staff who are working so hard to provide meaningful, managable learning opportunities for our learners. We have acted on our learnings and feedback from the last lockdown and feel things are running very smoothly. Staff are planning collaboratively in 'learning bubbles' and presenting some really fun learning opportunities; we will continue to do this at Level 3.
On top of all of this, please remember our constant message, whatever you can manage, it is enough.

John 13:34
Jesus, the greatest Teacher of all, showed us through his words and actions, what can be achieved by loving others and showing kindness in in everything we do.
Throughout the weekend and the coming week I invite us all to be mindful of others, to show love, care, consideration and appreciation.
Holy Cross Level 3 Attendance Survey
To help us prepare for the shift to Alert Level 3 on Wednesday, please click Alert Level 3 Attendance Survey
Today we heard a clear message from the Prime Minster stating that at Alert Level 3 schools will effectively continue to be closed for face-to-face learning, other than for the children of parents who need to go to work and have no alternative care options available; the reason for this is the Delta is more infectious and moves quickly, and the current outbreak in Auckland is larger than the original outbreak in March 2020. The Government’s decision to keep minimising contact is limiting the spread of cases. We ask you to support this message.
Once we know the number of children attending, we will confirm how our 'school bubbles' will be organised should this eventuate.
This will not be school as we know it, but a special modified environment with restrictions and safety measures in place during this lockdown period. This means classes will be made up of different year levels and your child may not have their regular teacher or be in their usual classroom.
Thank you for your support and consideration.
As you will have realised, camp, as we had planned it for next week will sadly not go ahead. Unfortunately, there are no available bookings at El Rancho for term 4 so we will reschedule for 2022.
You may be wondering, what about this year? Whilst we are disappointed, we are also resilient and so we will turn this into an opportunity to plan an amazing term of activities and experiences for our current year 7-8 students in Term 4, using the funds raised. We will involve students in the planning and know that we can turn a negative situation into a positive experience! We look forward to Revisioning Camp 2021 so that it is one all students will remember fondly.
Next week, the Year 7-8 team has put together a week of ‘camp fun’ activities for home, we look forward to sharing these with you at the end of the week.
Love your neighbour as yourself- get vaccinated
Following the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020, the free Pfizer vaccine is now being offered to members of the public, starting with those most at risk.
The New Zealand Catholic Bishops are urging people get vaccinated to protect themselves, their whanau, and the community. In getting the vaccine, you will also be protecting those who cannot receive the vaccination, such as those with underlying health conditions and young children.
The Pfizer vaccine is safe and effective, and it has been given to hundreds of millions of people worldwide.
At the request of the Bishops, Te Kupenga
