What beautiful, calm, settled weather we are enjoying; aren't we blessed? Perhaps this weekend we could make the time to walk around our neighbourhoods and beautiful city; there is so much to enjoy. Let's pay attention to the seasonal changes and the beauty that surrounds us.
What's happening in the garden, what's happening to the trees, what fruits and vegetables are growing? Often when I walk I estimate the current temperature and check on my phone to see how close I am.
Each time a walk into classrooms I see and hear children discussing their wonderings and learning... remember you are always welcome in classrooms - the children love it when you come in and talk with them about what they have been learning.
Loving God, the world is alive with your presence.
May we be sensitive to you in everything that lives.
All creatures tell of your wonder.
May we focus less on ourselves and
More on the whole of creation,
the expression to us of your great love.

WOW! What an amazing example of community spirit.... Margaret Wright, in her early nineties, has knitted 120 pairs of woollen slippers for the children of Holy Cross.
Our students were absolutely delighted to be able to select a pair they loved. They were very grateful and their comments reflected this: ' These are so warm and snuggly... these are incredibly squishy... I love these- and Margaret you are a very kind Nana... my feet feel new.... can I take these home forever?'
Margaret really enjoyed the responses of the children and said they made her efforts very worthwhile.
Thank you Margaret for bringing such joy to our tamariki, thank you too Francesca Wright for helping with the supply of wool and for helping fit the slippers!

We have a group of Holy Cross School students singing in this production which will be absolutely amazing! Our students have helped create their own original soundscapes which will feature in their performance.
Tickets are only $6 each, which is a special discounted price for Holy Cross School. The tickets are available at the school office. Come along with the whole family for a fun time together, support our tamariki and enjoy a great afternoon.

Parent information online safety evening
Well done to the parents that attended the Kahui Ako online safety information evening.
We felt it was a very helpful and informative evening that provided parents with tools to manage behaviour and learn techniques to help keep our children safe online.

Garden To Table Room 3
1st June 2021
Gardener of the Day: Ting
Chef of the Day: Joseph
Here are the reports from the gardener and chef of the day
Ting:
In the Garden we made protozoa tea, it's not to drink though as it’s an experiment.
We put handfuls of grass without any dirt on it into a bucket. We put half a bucket of rainwater in as well. Protozoa are microorganisms. We had to mix the grass and rain water and it made a loop.
We also did some work on ‘Be with a tree’. We were given a sheet and we had to sketch a tree and a leaf and write if it was a native tree and estimate how tall it was.
Joseph:
Today we made Silverbeet and Cheese muffins. The ingredients were tomato, spring onion, silverbeet, cheese, egg, milk and flour.
I chopped the tomato and spring onion and I chopped silverbeet. I washed the kale. We mixed the flour, eggs and milk all together, I helped Aleksandra wash the vegetables and put oil in the muffin tins. We put everything together and added the cheese.
Something I thought went well was chopping the tomatoes in half.
An idea for next time is to make pumpkin soup because pumpkin soup is good and I like it.
I felt good when I was chopping the tomatoes and spring onion, My goal for next time is to chop more silverbeet.
