The Gifts That Surround Us- My Story, Our Story, The Story
At our term 2 pōwhiri I spoke of the wonderful stories we hear of inspirational people both in New Zealand and overseas. These people have much to teach us.
I reflected on the importance of also recognising inspirational people in our midst. I told the story of one of our families and the way they have 'embraced' a very challenging situation. The way they have supported one another, lived their deep faith, shared their joy in life and appreciation of what they have - not what they have lost. They are truly inspirational.
Rest in Peace Mrs Clarke: Yesterday morning we heard the sad news that Mrs Patricia Clarke had passed away. Mrs Clarke was a valued member of our community for over twenty years, working as a librarian and member of the support staff team.
Patricia was a person of deep faith, who absolutely lived the Gospel Values. We were blessed to have her as part of our school community for so many precious years.
On the weekend a small group of staff, students (current and past) and parents made a recording for Patricia of a waiata and song she loved. We shared this on behalf of our community and she was deeply touched. Please keep Patricia and the Clarke family in your prayers. Rest in Peace Patricia.
The rosary for Patricia will be held on Sunday 30th May at 7pm Holy Cross Church and her funeral will be held on Monday 31st May at 10.30am Holy Cross Church.
Catholic Character - Trinity Sunday
‘I will be with you always’
Deuteronomy 4.39-40 Psalm 33 Romans 8:14-17 Matthew 28:16-20
This Sunday is Trinity Sunday; the readings for the day gives us insight into the mystery of God. God shares life with us through the three persons of the Holy Trinity.
We share the love of God, the goodness of Jesus the Son and the friendship of the Holy Spirit
In the gospel reading we will hear how Jesus sent out his disciples to spread his word. And Jesus tells us that he will always be with us.
St Francis of Assisi said, “Preach the gospel at all times, and when necessary use words.” - Discuss with your family what these words mean?
We invite you to consider- What can you do this week to share Jesus’s word with others through your actions?
Prayers for the week ahead-
We invite you to pray for world leaders: that they may treat their people fairly and do all that they can to bring an end to war and poverty.
We invite you to pray for our neighbours, both local and around the world: that they may see by our actions that we care for and respect them, and that they too may reach out to their neighbours, in an unending circle of love.
We invite you to pray for our Holy Trinity parish, family and friends: that we may be inspired to show our love for God and our neighbours throughout the world in all that we do. …
Christ Jesus, you are always with us. May we show love for our neighbour, treating all people as we would wish to be treated. And through what we do, may others see that we believe in you. Amen.

The Kāhui Ako group have secured Samuel Marsden auditorium for this interesting and informative event for parents.
The auditorium can seat up to 500 people so there should be plenty of space available for all parents to attend. The entry fee for parents will simply be a gold coin donation for the Home of Compassion Soup kitchen.
We will also receive a link to the documentary after the event that we can share with you however if you can attend we think it will be well worth it, as we all learn techniques to help keep our children safe online.

Pink Shirt cross country run day
Pink Shirt Day
What an AMAZING effort and sweat went into making this a memorable day!
So many students from Year 4-8 participated in running the cross country run of 1400m all the way to 2600m. Fantastic!
After the runs, the rest of the school got involved by running, jumping, crawling through an obstacle course, dancing, drawing with chalk and kicking around some sports equipment.
Our tamariki showed the Holy Cross Way in so many ways. Every time a teacher observed them saying 'yes' to participating, or kindly cheering someone on, they received house points. By the end of the day, the 4 houses had earned more than 1000 points collectively so they were rewarded with a well-deserved ice block.
We are all so proud of our tamariki. We also thank all of our whanau who came to cheer and support as well!

Although our main goal for the tournament was to gain experience playing together and to meet others in our zone, we did have some winners come out of the games.
Both the Year 7/8 girls and 7/8 mixed team came in as the winners on their court. Well done!
