We all know that success is achieved through the efforts of many …. This week we celebrate Support Staff Week. At Holy Cross we have thirteen support staff members. These staff do incredible work to support our students, teachers and each other.
Today the teachers prepared a special morning tea and presented a card to each member of the team. These card were made from recylced school journals from the 1980's. Every teacher wrote a personal message in each card, recognising the gifts and talents the support staff bring to our school and the significant contribution they make. We feel truly blessed to have such a hard-working, capable and committed team.
Thank you: Aleksandra, Ameera, Deb, Jo, Karin, Kate, Kathleen, Kirsten, Leanne, Malisha, Olivia, Suzanne and Vicky.
Here is a photograph of some of the staff enjoying their morning tea, we will aim to catch up with the others next week!
It is just over five years since the publication of Pope Francis’s encyclical or letter to the world; The letter was titled Laudato Si’ - on care for our Common Home.
We are beginning to understand what is possible if we accept this invitation; we have seen, and continue to see, the power of working together, to care for each other and our world.
We have been back at school now for almost four weeks, so it is timely that we pause, reflect and consider:
- How are we continuing to be kind?
- How are we showing care for the world around us?
- How are ‘holding on’ to the things that matter most?
- How are we maintaining precious ‘family time’?
- How can we show care for those around us?
God is the Creator of all that is ‘seen and unseen’. People and all of creation are part of what God made and ‘saw that it was good’. We are interdependent in our relationship with creation and are called to respect our own dignity, the dignity of others, and the value of all parts of creation. In this way we grow in holiness because we share in the tapu of God. God is a gracious giver of gifts. Our response to God’s gifts of grace is to truly appreciate them, and to live lives of gratitude.
Congratulations EJ for living the Holy Cross Way.
After lockdown EJ returned his Lenten calendar which he had completed.
For every RED cross, EJ helped someone.
For every YELLOW cross, EJ said an extra prayer.
And for every GREEN cross, EJ did something good that was hard for him.
Well done EJ, thank you for sharing your love !
Congratulations to the Vink family who won the lucky prize draw for completing our family survey.
Thank you to each and every family who shared their thoughts and reflections with us. The information really helped us to plan for a safe transition back to school for our students and it provided useful information that will inform our future planning.
